Our History

SnowOutlook forecasts are the result of a 50 year, privately sponsored, research program which began in 1964.

The history of SnowOutlook originated with Paul E. Ruch. Prior to branching out with his own research, Paul headed the Meteorology Department at the California Institute of Technology (CALTECH). With extensive experience working with some of the top meteorologists in the field, Paul was able to investigate many of the credible theories and then expand on the capabilities of weather forecasting.

His son had earned his own respect in the field. After graduating from the University of Los Angeles (UCLA), as a meteorologist, Paul Ruch II went on serve the US Air Force as a Weather Officer.

The father and son team combined their efforts to develop a completely different method for predicting the weather. The result was an accurate and precise Long Range Weather Forecasting system that allowed their clients to have a legitimate tool for planning weather sensitive business decisions. Customers were provided with exclusive forecasts covering the likelihood of future storms.

As a result of their accomplishments, both Paul E Ruch and Paul E Ruch II received the coveted fellowship from the London Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA).
